18 awesome Pinterest tips that actually work and attract

Pinterest is a great visual social platform.

Not many know, how to use it efficiently though.

Pinterest leads among all social networks in terms of social networks.

18 awesome Pinterest tips that actually work and attract

But Pinterest is left out by most marketers from their digital strategy mainly due to lack of awareness and knowledge.

So here are 15 tips to help up your Pinterest game:

  1. Find the Pins: Your competitor is already using to gain traffic. You can simply check using the following URL: https://pinterest.com/source/[competitor URL]/ to see all the pinned images from them. Examine the pins the competition is doing more of and the ones they stopped doing recently. This shows what is working for your industry and what does not.
  2. Schedule your content: Pinterest lets you schedule your content on its platform. Please use this and plan at least a month worth of content ahead of time. It is always better that way. The next month analyse what is working and what is not.
  3. Use keyword planning and search analysis: Name the boards based on your keyword research. I would recommend doing keyword research in a slightly different manner. For example, let's take the real estate industry. Your keyword research has to have interior designs for a property, gardening, home office etc. I would highly recommend you do a google search with these kinds of keyword phrases. Mostly, you would notice that Pinterest ranks on number position in organic search for content like 958+ interior designs, etc. Use these in your boards & pins, get more organic traffic. Use these keywords in your pin titles and descriptions.
  4. Right dimensions: Images on Pinterest need to have 2:3 aspect ratio to work well on their platform. I would recommend starting from 600 px * 900 px and moving up to a maximum of 2000 px * 3000 px. Ensure that your content is original and not copied or stock images.
  5. Creative best practices: I know advising people to start following best practices is like the worst kind of advice. Best practices are the right way to get started. Here are the creative best practices of Pinterest - https://business.pinterest.com/en/creative-best-practices and also sign up for the Pinterest academy - https://business.pinterest.com/en/blog/start-here-introducing-pinterest-academy.
  6. Use places or location tags efficiently: When you add content with their specific locations, Pinterest organically pushes out that content to people physically in those locations. It also helps when people search with place names.
  7. Connect your other social accounts: Your official Instagram & YouTube accounts (even Etsy) can be connected. There are unique benefits. You can share information about your pins and boards on your already existing platforms.
  8. Inspiration: To get started, you can follow the best practices. But to win and attract followers, you have to be creative. Creativity does not come in a day, it takes hard work, effort and experimentation. For experimentation, we need more inspiration. To get inspiration, we need to follow boards which are doing creative work already.
  9. Clear your Pinterest search history: To follow great boards, you will have to research for them on Pinterest. But as you keep searching, the platform customises content based on search history. To avoid this and stop seeing similar search results, clear your search history. Use the instructions here - https://help.pinterest.com/en/article/clear-recent-search-history.
  10. Send your Pins in your emails/newsletters: If you are sending regular broadcasts, etc. Do add your pins to the emails. It would be a great way to get more traction to your Pinterest account.
  11. Choose your Board category: Add category to your Pinterest boards. It helps with the search performance of your boards: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/395753885975848900/.
  12. Add sections to get more Google search benefit.
  13. Engage with lateral industries: Content from other verticals can be engaged. For example, if you are a watch brand, you can interact with content specific to cars, art, etc.
  14. Mention other users/influencers wherever relevant to your content.
  15. Pin your videos too with great explanatory thumbnails for your content.
  16. Embed your popular Pinterest boards on website.
  17. Share content from other contributors.
  18. Frequency: Have around 5 pins a day.
