20 valuable Blog hacks that actually attract traffic!

These are some thoughtful tips and hack to increase traffic to your blog.

20 valuable Blog hacks that actually attract traffic!

  1. Reading time for the blog - This is key in prompting people to click through to read a blog. Some readers prefer shorter blogs and others who long a long one which explains in details. Reading time is a hint towards the length of the blog.
  2. Click to Tweet/Click to share on social media channels - Readers rarely come across great posts. When they do, share them with their friends. Having 'click to share' option helps get shares. Keeping these as sticky buttons could be helpful, as the intent to share can happen at different points of your blog.
  3. Research on the topics and the ideal blog length for it - Before we start writing a blog post, it is essential to research on trending topics. This helps you write on issues which are worth your time and the reader's attention. Best way to do topic research, as per me, is by collecting featured snippets and people also ask questions. These are headlines of the top content on the topic you are researching. Frame your headline with keywords and also make it exciting. I recommend ranking your headline options as well: CoSchedule Headline Analyzer. Try to use a headline which gets a score above 70. (This blog's headline has a score of 70). To calculate the blog length try to find the average word count of all the articles you researched earlier. Try to find out points that those blogs are missing out on and add almost 10% to 20% more words than the average. And here we have a data-driven method to writing blog titles and deciding on blog length.
  4. Add BlogPost schema on all your blog pages.
  5. Adding a speakable schema for your blog titles & content/descriptions can help in this era of voice search.
  6. The blog content has to be thematic - Try to answer 1 question after another in a logical manner. For example, to promote a pair of running shoes - we need to write about the running habit, the kinds of shoes, variants and people.
  7. Content Pillars - Establish themes to write on. Do not combine them often to prevent Keyword Cannibalisation.
  8. Use sticky buttons on mobile and right column buttons on desktop - Hubspot is an example of this.
  9. Perform historical optimisation of old blogs - Older blogs can still drive traffic if they are relevant. It is logical to optimise the content on such blogs.
  10. Engagingly present your content - Your blog design has to be mobile-friendly - easy to navigate and share. Tap sizes for buttons on the mobile view of the pages are to be looked at with care.
  11. Use a main/featured image - Moz's blogs have these images. They communicate the information and are relevant to the blog theme. They also sometimes feature a smiling shot of the author.
  12. Use author pages on your website - This helps build Expertise-Authoritativeness-Trustworthiness.
  13. Click-Through Rate analysis from Search Console - Look at the queries in search console for your blogs. Build a long-tail version of those queries. Optimise the content further and request re-indexing.
  14. Add prompt for the user to add your blog as a bookmark. This a good ranking signal and can bring returning traffic with better retention time.
  15. Plan and execute content distribution - You need outreach, syndication and of course, backlinks.
  16. Internal linking - Link back to all your content pillar pages and relevant blog posts. This is key to driving traffic and engagement.
  17. Hunt for link attribution - Usually content is copied off and republished. Create search alerts for your blog content to see if it gets published elsewhere. When you find such republishing, ask for a link back to your blog post. It usually works and becomes a great way to build your own link portfolio.
  18. Continuous UX split testing - the key to success is hypothesis, test, learn and repeat.
  19. Downloadable branded content with links back to your website - this is called PDF SEO.
  20. Feature your best & latest blogs on the homepage.

Hope the above help!
